Snap Camera Replacement

Snap Camera Alternative for Windows and Mac

Snap Camera was discontinued in early 2023 and no longer receives updates. CiCi Cam picks up the same use case — a desktop app that adds filters and beauty to your webcam feed across Zoom, Teams, Meet, and OBS — but built for current operating systems and focused on natural, work-friendly looks instead of AR overlays.

Why the default setup falls short

Snap Camera is no longer supported

Snap stopped Snap Camera development in 2023. The installer still exists in old caches, but there are no fixes for new OS releases, new webcams, or video-call app changes.

Lenses were fun, but distracting for work

Snap Camera's strength was AR lenses. For meetings, classes, or streams, most people now want subtle, natural enhancement — better skin, lighting, and presence — not face-swap effects.

You still need cross-app camera support

Whatever replaces Snap Camera has to feed Zoom, Teams, Meet, OBS, and Discord at once. The virtual camera model is the only way to do that without app-specific plugins.

How the setup works

  1. 1

Uninstall Snap Camera if it's still on your machine

Old Snap Camera installs may conflict with new virtual camera registrations. Remove it cleanly before installing a replacement.

  2. 2

    Install CiCi Cam

Download the current Windows or Mac installer. CiCi Cam registers as a virtual camera at the system level, the same role Snap Camera held.

  3. 3

Set up a natural daily preset

Instead of an AR lens, build a clean look: light smoothing, soft facial light, subtle makeup, and a neutral filter. This becomes your default across every app.

  4. 4

Switch each app's camera to CiCi Cam

Update your camera selection in Zoom, Teams, Meet, OBS, Discord — anywhere Snap Camera used to live in your dropdown.

Snap Camera vs CiCi Cam

Snap Camera was AR-lens-first and is discontinued. CiCi Cam is beauty-and-lighting-first and actively maintained. Both expose themselves as virtual cameras, so the way you connect them to Zoom, Teams, and OBS is identical — the difference is what happens to your face and lighting in between.
